Hi. I’m Heather A. McDonald–not this one, or this one, or this one. I get lots of emails for various other Heather Mc/Mac/whatevers and sometimes I write back.
Me, I earned my MFA from American University in Washington, D.C. and my BA from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va. Currently I teach composition and undergraduate creative writing at American University. Prior to teaching, I was a web writer and editor, admin assistant, barista, waitress, independent beauty consultant and freelance proofreader and editor. I’m currently at work on several essays and a memoir. My essay, “How to Fix Everything,” was named Creative Nonfiction magazine’s Best Food essay, appearing in the Spring 2011 issue. The essay was named a Notable Essay for Best American Essays 2012, by guest editor David Brooks and series editor Robert Atwan.
